AIWCC is seeking a Boys & Men mentorship facilitator. The program delivers one-on-one mentorship opportunities. Targeting immigrant boys aged 12-18 old through a shared impact, cultural identity approach, and promoting anti-violence mentorship.

The Program Facilitator will be responsible to plan, develop, promote, and deliver content-rich program for men and boys during school hours, out-of-school hours. The facilitator will maintain and expand relationships with area schools and community partners to implement Men & Boys Gender Equity program in alignment with our mission. The Program Facilitator involves front-line outreach work, program development and delivery, event planning and facilitation, and administrative duties as required.

Responsibilities within the Program Team, will include registration, data tracking, program evaluation, training, and organizational support. The successful candidate should be interested in gender equity,social justice, anti-oppressive and anti-racist work, and be passionate about modeling these values to men and boys We are looking for a professional with experience in programming. The project aims adult men to mentor with immigrant boys from junior high to high school students.

Job responsibilities:



Creating an awareness for communities to help immigrant men and boys to understand the causes of violence against women and girls and to support them in joining together to end gender based violence Encouraging Healthy Relationship Skills for boys and young men Offer immigrant men and boys a safe place to learn their roles and responsibilities when it comes to ending violence against young girls and women Men and boys mentoring programs, and workshops Group counselling for men who are at risk Engage men and boys in education and prevention initiatives aimed at ending violence against women before it takes place Public awareness campaigns delivered in various languages may be effective in addressing the information and support needs of individuals whose first language is not English or French. To ensure prevention and education initiatives are culturally relevant and not simple translations of existing campaigns and resources. Develop, implement, and coordinate events Mentor and coach youth and find additional mentors as needed. Ensure that program services are carried out, such as activities, follow-up support to matches and life skills workshops. Assist in other programmatic functions as required, such as special events, to support the program. Take a lead role in exploring community collaborations and developing supplemental support services for youth Accurately assess participants learning levels and needs Be able to recognize any problem that might arise, evaluate the causes, and take appropriate action to resolve the issues Develop an annual Program Plan that includes, but is not limited to, planned training workshops for volunteers, community recruitment activities and support groups For evaluation propose, identify the program areas that might require special attention Establish and maintain accurate records and files Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annually reports, as well as monthly data report. Manage evaluation data collection Ability to meet established deadlines Communicate with school personnel, families, referral agencies and other organizations on behalf of the Mentoring program and as representative of the agency Conduct outreach and retention activities to ensure adequate program attendance and participation Be able to represent agency in the community Participate in staff development opportunities Maintain effective communication within the agency and with the community on the progress of the project Commitment to Alberta Immigrant Women & Children Centre's mission and program philosophies

Education and Experience Requirements:



Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in human services (Social Work, Settlement work, Education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Have at least 3 years experience working with newcomer/immigrant youth and their families. Have at least 3 years experience working in non-profit setting. 3 or more years of work experience is required in a related field working with K-12 youth. Strong background in project/program management 3 or more years experience in mentoring, youth development, or communications, working within community organizations and/or schools preferred. Strong organizational, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Creativity and flexibility are essential in assuming significant responsibility. Experience working in racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities preferred. Able to speak Arabic and Tigrinya Experience in developing and implementing programs required. Experience supervising volunteers. Judgment and the ability to supervise mentors in the field. Ability to promote the program in the community through outreaching. Highly organized and collaborative Ability to take initiative, dependability, flexibility and resourceful. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Google Docs/ Calendar, and Internet usage.
