About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is the largest employer in Nova Scotia with over 23,000 employees and over 7,000 volunteers. The Nova Scotia Health Authority provides sustainable safe and high quality health care which is accessible, people-centered, promotes health and wellness and optimizes the health of all Nova Scotia's. This is accomplished across four management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient and community based programs and services including mental health and addictions, primary health care, public health and continuing care.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority's Information Management and Technology services include clinical applications support, technology related project management, business services, telecom services. NSHA IM?IT is also the host organization for Clinical Applications Support in the province and in this capacity is responsible for clinical applications support for external entities/clients including IWK, primary care physicians and providers, retail pharmacies. NSHA IM/IT has a key partnership with the Internal Services Department of the Province of Nova Scotia, who provides technical/infrastructure services for itself and its clients.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Government and the IWK Health Centre have a vision of One Person, One Record (OPOR), which would move the province from multiple disparate clinical systems to a single, primary system connected to multiple secondary clinical systems. The IM/IT Team Lead/Sr. Analyst is a key member of the portfolio holding express both subject matter expertise in in IT applications as well as key competencies related to project oversight and team management to ensure achievement of both portfolio and broader NSHA provincial enterprise goals and strategic priorities.

The IM/IT Lead may oversee a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the day to day operations dependent on business stream as well as act as project manager for both small and large scale project based on area of specific subject matter expertise related to services for both NSHA and IWK and its many external clients, in partnership with the provinces Internal Services Department and the Department of Health and Wellness. Effective use of IM/IT tools, services and systems of support, ensuring an optimized environment in which NSHA and its clients can achieve corporate mandates related to safe, effective delivery of care in a fiscally responsibility and sustainable manner. Reporting to an IM/IT manager, the IM/IT Lead may also have the responsibility for managing projects and/or services as assigned and are the responsibility of the NSHA.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science Information systems or health related field required
  • Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in Clinical Application implementation required, previous Lead experience preferred
  • Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience
  • Project Management and change management certification would be considered an asset
  • Experience supporting clinical applications systems and related services in a complex health care organizational environment considered an asset
  • Proficiency in various programming and clinical application reporting tools
  • Proficient knowledge of healthcare industry required; familiarity with clinical and administrative hospital functions and departments preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities to other operational units
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficient with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Work, MS Visio and MS Power-Point
  • Proficient in using iPads and comfortable in troubleshooting and assembling hardware (Kiosk-type devices)

Hours
  • Long-assignment, Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$37.66 - $47.07 Hourly
