Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Production Machine Operator for Ice Cream will ensure the machine set-up, machine operation, preparation of materials for steady production of ice cream and general maintenance of the production floor is maintained in accordance with Central Smith policy.
Specific Accountabilities:
Follow all formula's and record usage rates accurately
Prepare workspace for production run
Oversee the staging materials for production
Oversee the start-up tasks, middle, and end of day tasks and ensure personnel follow through with jobs outlined
Ensure that production staff are assigned to small tasks to assist the flow of production including changing sanitation water, how to make minor machine adjustments
Manage down time and ensure employees are working at the cleaning, putting away of items
Measure ingredients and inclusions ensure proper tracking in accordance to the formula sheets
Track and report to Inventory Control the usage of materials, cycle count materials upon production completion
Assist with cleaning and general maintenance as required
Troubleshoot equipment and make adjustments
Attain daily production target
Eliminate waste, run with tolerance
Coach and lead production staff
Follow policies and procedures
Supervise staff and ensure GMP's are maintained
Report on any maintenance issues to Production Manager/Maintenance Manager
Report and Quality issues to QA
Ensure quality of product meets requirements
Maintain a safe, tidy and secure working environment
Help with recycling to ensure the reduction of waste
Complete all required environmental allergen testing and ATP testing.
Sanitize equipment when necessary
Keep track of all paperwork, record all weights, lot codes, temperatures etc.
Train new staff in all positions
Other duties as required
Health and Safety Accountabilities:
Must follow the protocols for attire when entering the manufacturing facility
Ensure uniforms are held to standard

Report any incidents or accidents to the Production Manager if needed

Able to operate an iPad to work in the Go-Canvas system to track usage
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations

Qualifications, Education, Experience:
High School or Food Manufacturing experience
Some mechanical knowledge

Physical Effort:
Work activities require frequent, length periods of heavy physical effort for majority of the workday. Work includes frequent standing, stooping, and bending and requirement to regularly lift and carry large, awkward or heavy objects.

Work environment contains only occasional exposure to mild unpleasant or disagreeable conditions with a remote possibility of risk of accident or health hazards.

Work activities involve need to concentrate for intermediate durations at a time with some tasks requiring close attention. The need for detailed or precise work is moderate.
