JOB SUMMARY
The Hydrovac Swamper safely assists the Hydrovac Operator on all job tasks as they relate to the team's assigned jobs and work duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete jobs using the hydrovac safely and effectively as trained and required
Complete all assigned work safely and effectively
Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and complete minor maintenance as required
Participate in the completion FLRA, Inspections, Checklists and Toolbox Talks as required
Bring attention to any unreported safety concerns requiring attention/correction
Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive working relationships with customers and coworkers - representing Horizon well!
Participate in all training and performance reviews required by the Company
Understand, follow and train employees on all procedures, policies and practices in our safety program
Pursue ongoing education sponsored by the Company as required
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Completion of Secondary School an asset
Post-secondary trades education an asset
EXPERIENCE
No previous experience is required, although preference will be given to those who possess:
Experience working in an outdoor, laborious position
2+ years industry experience or education equivalent
Hydrovac flushing experience
Daylighting/pipeline exposing experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work
High level of customer service
Plan, prioritize and coordinate, multi-task and complete work assignments within prescribed deadlines
Able to apply effective time management and self-management skills.
Able to be flexible in position requiring timely response
Ability to foster a cooperative working environment
Knowledge of lower mainland/greater Vancouver.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is 100% labour and as such, individuals must be in good physical condition and be able to lift weight more than 50 lbs, bending, crouching, twisting, and standing/walking for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is 100% outside. Individuals will be subject to varied weather including extreme heat and cold, rain and snow. Individuals are encouraged to wear layers and sunscreen when required. Shifts will vary. Morning, Afternoon and Evening shift availability will be required.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Starting base wage of $25-30 based on previous experience
Vacation pay paid out on each cheque

RRSP Enrollment at 365 Days (Matching level: Salary)
