Summary

Hydrovac Swamper assists the Hydrovac Operator in performing safe and efficient hydro excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum systems. This role involves supporting excavation activities around utilities, pipelines, and other underground infrastructure while maintaining strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

Assist Hydrovac Operations:

Support the operator during daylighting, trenching, and utility exposure tasks.

Equipment Setup & Breakdown:

Assemble/disassemble hoses, fittings, and hydrovac components daily.

Site Preparation & Cleanup:

Set up safety barriers, traffic cones, and signage; maintain a clean worksite.

Hose Handling:

Manage hoses and wands during excavation, ensuring proper placement and safe operation.

Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and help spot underground utilities to prevent damage.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform basic maintenance tasks such as greasing fittings and cleaning filters under operator guidance.

Communication:

Maintain clear communication with the operator and crew to ensure efficiency and

Requirements

Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Licenses:

Valid driver's license required; Class 5 or 3A,1A is an asset.

Experience:

No prior experience required, but construction or utility work experience is preferred.

Physical Ability:

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments under varying conditions.

Skills:

Knowledge of hydrovac processes and equipment Understanding of safety protocols and spotting procedures Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 60 per week
