We are looking for a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our growing practice in Canada. This position will be part of a dynamic team of engineers and scientists engaged in a wide range of hydrotechnical and water management projects providing engineering and scientific services from pre-feasibility stage through to final design and construction. On occasion your expertise may be needed by our parent company Tetra Tech on some of their challenging international projects.

Your Role:

  • Conducting investigations and developing engineering solutions for several types of projects including dam and canal design, construction and rehabilitations, river engineering, flood and erosion management, channel improvements, sediment transport studies, stormwater management and drainage.
  • Planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules and deliverables to execute high quality projects on time and on budget.
  • Lead or participate in delivering DSRs, Dam Breach Assessment, DSIs and assessment and design reports.
  • Supporting the development of design drawings from concept, preliminary, detailed, tender and construction.
  • Support the development of tender documents.
  • Participate in Construction Management activities.
  • Perform dam inspections for dam safety related work, including annual operation inspections.
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modelling and analysis (using both standard office software and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software) as well as using GIS tools for analysis and presentation of concepts.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of leading edge project management practices.
  • Perform site inspections for water resource projects. Participate in Business Development (BD) activities including preparing or providing input to proposals, and conferences.
  • Mentorship and development of junior engineers, designers and technicians
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in civil or hydrotechnical engineering, a Master\'s would be ideal.
  • Registered P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) or eligible in Alberta or British Columbia.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive relevant engineering experience is preferred.
  • Proven capabilities in planning and supervising hydrotechnical work and in writing reports and technical communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in water resources projects from concept to construction and construction support from tendering to inspections.
  • Strong all-round academic knowledge of hydrotechnical engineering.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal regulatory requirements related to water resources and experience dealing with the same approval agencies.
  • Dam safety experience will be an asset.
  • Experience with both standard office software and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software are essential for this position.
  • Experience or aptitude for proposal writing, client development, working in a team setting to meet timelines and other skills appropriate to consulting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and understanding multidisciplinary projects.
  • Leadership skills with an aptitude to mentor and develop junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Excellent organizational and collaborative skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License
