Human Resources/payroll Manager

Job Description

Oversees Human Resources programs, including recruiting/selection, compensation & benefits, employee relations, labour relations, recognition programs, training programs, to ensure policy compliance for hotel team members, & build and promote a positive team culture while ensuring our guests' experience is unique and brings the brand to life, and coach and counsel all managers and leadership team on all people-related issue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Employee/ Labour Relations



Responds to employee enquiries in a positive and responsive fashion

Plan and organize social events (birthdays, Summer BBQ's etc)

Educate and train leaders and employees on various topics, including performance management processes, progressive disciplinary processes and related programs to foster productivity and enhance performance.

Interpretation and administration of the collective agreement

In a union environment, may manage labor relations and represent the hotel in grievances, mediations, arbitrations and contract negotiation.

Health & Safety



Co-chair health & Safety committee quarterly meetings

Ensure a strong Health and Safety culture through the proper delivery of the Health & Safety Program

Manage administration of Workers Compensation claims working with all department heads on occupational health and safety training initiatives and WSIB compliance

Administration



Manage employee benefit plan and enrollment.

Manage administration of STD & LTD claims along with employee LOA's

Transmit bi-weekly payroll for 175 employees

Accounting functions as assigned

Assign and control employee lockers

Manage on boarding and introduction of new hires to the organization.

Ensures that the Company is in compliance with all relevant HR laws and policies and stays up to date on all new legislation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



Prior experience as a Human Resources Manager in some facet of hotel operations would be a great asset. CHRP designation.

Experience processing payroll for a large number of employees (PayWorks)

Strong accounting background

LANGUAGE SKILLS



It is imperative for the HR Manager to have an exceptional grasp of the English language, both verbal and written. Other languages would be considered an asset.
