Job Description

Located on Lake St. Clair in Tecumseh, Ontario, Beach Grove Golf and Country Club offers its Members both golf and year-round social activities, including an 18-hole championship golf course, several dining options, a pool, harbour, curling rink, pickleball, golf simulators, and multi-sport entertainment options.

The Human Resources Manager, ("the Manager"), leads the areas of Human Resources, Payroll, and Health and Safety. This is a hands-on role that also provides the opportunity to develop new programs and enhance those existing. Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager is an integral and vital member of the Club's Senior Management Team. The Club is accordingly seeking a highly motivated candidate who is looking for a dynamic and challenging opportunity.

Human Resources:



Lead and execute all aspects of the human resources cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, disability management, training and development, performance management, employee compensation, retention, and offboarding. Provide guidance and direction on all employee/employer relations, including the interpretation and implementation of applicable legislation, the Collective Agreement, club policies, as well as support in determining the appropriate resolution to issues. Provide guidance and direct administrative support to managers on employee performance management and the disciplinary process to ensure alignment with procedures between all departments. Collaborate with management and legal counsel to develop termination strategies and conduct terminations when required. Manage, and create as needed, all new employee and onboarding documentation. Act as the Club liaison to the Union, managing all Union communications and grievances. Manage the Group Benefits program, including relationships with the Club's providers. Ensure all legislative and training requirements are met related to employees, payroll, and health and safety.

Payroll



Manage payroll processes end-to-end for management, Union, and non-Union employees. Process biweekly payrolls for all employees. Maintain and update employee files in the payroll system. Process biweekly and monthly government remittances including Source Deductions, EHT, and WSIB. Seek out, prepare and file Government Grants for wage subsidies, including the Canada Summer Jobs program. Assist with the annual T4 reporting and Annual EHT and WSIB reporting.

Health and Safety



Manage and build upon the Club's health and safety systems, leading all Club health and safety initiatives. Create and update health and safety policies, procedures and documentation as required. Chair and manage all aspects of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including creating and managing all administrative documentation and functions. Manage the workplace inspection process and monitor and ensure workplace hazards are properly addressed in a timely manner. Manage employee injuries and incidences, ensuring all WSIB reporting requirements are met. Actively manage all WSIB administrative functions, return to work programs and accommodation requirements. Ensure all applicable health and safety legislative and training requirements are met.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



A degree or diploma in business with a focus on Human Resources. A minimum of five years experience in human resources management in progressively senior roles. A minimum of two years experience managing and processing payroll for 50 or more employees. A current Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification. A minimum of two years health and safety experience, with experience as a JHSC chairperson preferred. Knowledge and experience applying HR practices, employment legislation, and health and safety legislation. Strong computer skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new systems and programs. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written. Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Skills and Qualifications Considered an Asset:



Experience as a manager in a unionized environment. CHRP designation. Experience with Jonas and its back-office functions.
