The ideal candidate brings strong HR leadership, proven experience in complex operational settings, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, production, and corporate functions.
Lead daily HR operations to support business and program objectives.
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure optimal staffing levels.
Drive workforce planning aligned with operational, engineering, and fleet-support requirements.
Ensure compliance with federal/provincial legislation and defense/CAF/DND standards.
Employee Relations & Organizational Support
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, supervisors, and employees.
Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Support change-management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strengthen communication between HR, operations, and leadership teams.
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures based on organizational and contractual needs.
Ensure compliance with employment standards, safety regulations, and defense requirements.
Identify HR risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Conduct audits and reviews to ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
Talent Management & Training
Oversee training needs assessments and professional development programs.
Support succession planning and competency tracking.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and employee growth.
HR Metrics, Reporting & Cost Optimization
Track and report HR KPIs (turnover, staffing levels, training, etc.).
Lead HR-related cost-optimization initiatives.
Support development of staffing plans and resource allocation models.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with System Engineering, Project Management, and Sustainment teams.
Align HR strategies with operational demands to support program performance.
Contribute HR expertise to organizational planning and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience; experience in complex industrial environments considered an asset.
Strong understanding of Canadian employment law and HR best practices.
Experience supporting operational, engineering, or technical teams preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, structured, and compliance-driven environment.
CHRP or CHRL designation (or working toward it) is an asset.
