Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, concerns, or other issues
Handles investigation and resolution of employee issues, concerns, and conflicts
Nurture a positive working environment, and implement cultural and value-based programs
Oversee and manage a performance evaluation system that drives high performance
Keeps job descriptions up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with relevant federal, state, and local laws for all positions
Providing leadership and strategic direction of the Health and Safety program
Managing the Health and Safety database for the Company, Workers and Sub-Contractors
Overseeing the JOHSC\xe2\x80\x99s activities at the various worksites to ensure their continued effectiveness in the overall safety program
Provide support to the recruitment and selection process
Coordinate the new employee orientation and on-boarding process with the hiring manager
Develop and maintain the succession planning program
Ensure that HR Document retention management and employee files are in place and appropriately maintained
Report to the Executive team and provide decision support through HR metrics
Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
Accountable for managing the relationship with external vendors for HR and Payroll services, including performance, service, contracting, and quality
Coordinate and manage regulatory compliance audit processes
Manage and administer the employee group benefit programs, including the enrolment processes
Manage disability management claims and return-to-work programs
Develop and manage the HR budget
Process and revised bi-weekly hourly and salary payrolls, including off-cycle payments
Enter data to the payroll system for new hires, employee changes such as terminations (ROE), leaves of absence, transfers, promotions, status changes, organizational changes, and other updates as required
Requirements:
BA Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour & Industrial Relations or related field. Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL, etc.) an asset.
5+ years of experience in HR with exposure to all major functional areas of HR, required
Experience in a unionized environment, preferably services
Strong multitasking and prioritizing capabilities
Discretion, professionalism, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act, territorial regulations, and WCB programs
Sound judgment, strong critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills an asset
Strong system and data flow knowledge, ability to learn and adapt to new process flows and technologies
