Bevo Farms Ltd is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America, providing greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest-and-disease-free plants. Bevo Farms Ltd operates three sites in the lower mainland of British Columbia and two facilities in the province of Alberta.
SUMMARY
The Human Resources (HR) Manager plays a key leadership role in shaping Bevo Farms' people and culture strategy by overseeing the HR department's operations and guiding programs in talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, and workforce development. Reporting to the Director of Administration, this role ensures that human resources initiatives align with Company goals and foster a positive, high-performance workplace.
The HR Manager acts as a cultural leader within the organization, driving initiatives that strengthen accountability, collaboration, and trust at all levels. This includes coaching managers to lead with transparency, supporting employees in their professional growth, and promoting practices that reinforce Bevo Farms' values mantra of - We Care, We Act, We Deliver. Working closely with the Payroll and Benefits Manager and other administrative leaders, the HR Manager ensures alignment between people programs, organizational priorities, and long-term business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Management:
+ Drive strategic initiatives in recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, retention, performance management, and succession planning.
+ Champion and evolve a high-performance, high-trust culture by promoting accountability, transparency, and cross-functional collaboration across all levels of the Company.
+ Ensure a positive and proactive HR service delivery to internal stakeholders, supporting leadership in achieving organizational goals. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
+ Oversee full-cycle recruitment, working closely with the Director of Administration and HR team to develop job postings, screen candidates, and facilitate the interview and hiring process.
+ Oversee the full-cycle onboarding process for new hires and temporary foreign workers, ensuring a seamless experience that complies with company policies and legal regulations. Employee Relations & Compliance:
+ Serve as the point of contact for complex employee relations issues, escalating matters to the Director of Administration when necessary.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local labor laws, including employment standards, and provincial health and safety legislation.
+ Collaborate with the Foreign Worker Liaison to manage the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and ensure compliance with LMIA, visas, and work permits. Policy and Compliance
+ Develop and maintain company HR policies and procedures in line with BC and AB labour laws.
+ Ensure compliance with employment standards, health and safety regulations and human rights legislation.
+ Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality. Employee Development & Engagement:
+ Implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and career growth opportunities.
+ Promote a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and employee engagement, organizing initiatives that improve workplace morale and collaboration. Health and Safety, Wellness
+ Support employee-employer injury claims and documentation.
+ Collaborate with Worksafe BC, WCB AB, and internal safety teams to promote a safe work environment.
+ Promote and support employee wellness initiatives. Strategic HR Initiatives:
+ Support the Director of Administration in developing and executing HR strategies that align with the Company's business goals.
+ Lead efforts in refining organizational culture, ensuring that Bevo Farms' core values mantra - We Care, We Act, We Deliver, are embedded throughout the employee experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certifications (e.g., CPHR, SHRM) are preferred.
Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience, with at least two years in a management role.
Strong knowledge of Canadian labour laws and regulations, with experience managing foreign worker programs.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
