We are seeking an 8-month, Human Resources Intern to join our Human Resources Team in Calgary, AB on a full time (40 hours per week), temporary term. This role will commence May 1, 2023 and will report to one of our Senior HR Business Partners.

The successful candidate will participate in a variety of meaningful HR projects and activities that support our Canadian and US operations. Candidates should have an awareness of HR best practices and the technical skills to effectively assist with HR communications, policy research, policy writing, content management and documentation.

Responsibilities:


  • Support a variety of HR policy project initiatives within one or more of our HR specialist groups including, Total Rewards, HRIS, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and HR Business Partners/Advisory;

  • Participate in a variety of HR communication activities including program roll-outs, monthly leader newsletter, and the HR SharePoint/Intranet sites;

  • Assist with HR file management and the migration of HR files to SharePoint;

  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Successful candidate will be enrolled in a post-secondary bachelors program related to Human Resources, or Business Administration;

  • Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term;

  • Preference will be given to students with relevant work experience in policy development, conducting policy analysis, and providing advice and recommendations on policy issues

  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial regulation and legislation, provincial Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, and Privacy laws; as well as experience referring to union contracts and labor relations policies

  • Previous Intern / work experience is required;

  • Previous Intern / work experience in Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HRIS, OD or Change Management capacity would be considered an asset;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint;

  • Comfortable with virtual collaboration and meeting software, including Teams;

  • Ability to take initiative and the confidence to make suggestions for improvement;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Solid interpersonal skills that support collaboration and productive working relationships;

  • Interest in HR professional growth and development;

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in a fast pace environment;

  • Ability to work independently;

  • Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Calgary for the duration of the work term

  • Interns must be able to commit to an 8-month work term starting May 1, 2023 to be considered for the program; and

  • Successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check.
