Role Summary





The

Human Resources Generalist

provides hands-on HR support to employees and leaders across Armstrong's corporate functions. This role focuses on employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, HR administration, and supporting HR programs and initiatives. It is a blend of operational excellence and proactive partnership, ensuring HR practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with our company values.

Key Responsibilities




Employee Lifecycle Management




Serve as the primary contact for employees on HR policies, programs, and inquiries. Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles -- posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting offer preparation. Facilitate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for new employees. Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HRIS systems.

Employee Relations & Support




Provide day-to-day guidance on employee relations, performance, and workplace matters. Support investigations and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment aligned with Armstrong's culture and values.

HR Programs & Administration




Administer and support HR programs such as annual reviews, merit increases, and recognition initiatives. Coordinate benefits enrollment, payroll changes, and leave management in collaboration with the Total Rewards team. Maintain compliance with Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, WSIB). Prepare reports and maintain documentation for audits and compliance.

Training, Development & Engagement




Support implementation of learning and development programs, including individual development plans (IDPs). Assist with employee engagement surveys, data analysis, and follow-up actions. Help coordinate internal events and communication activities to strengthen culture and engagement.

HR Projects & Continuous Improvement




Participate in HR initiatives such as policy updates, process enhancements, and system improvements. Support change initiatives and workforce planning activities as needed.



Qualifications & Experience




Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a corporate or manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of Canadian employment laws and HR best practices. Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills. CHRP designation (or working toward it) is an asset.
