The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting day-to-day Human Resources operations, ensuring the organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent while maintaining compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive workplace culture. This role requires hands-on execution, working closely with managers and employees to provide guidance, address issues, and implement HR initiatives. The HR Generalist will be a solo HR practitioner supporting two facilities, with oversight and guidance provided by the Corporate Director of HR.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate full-cycle recruitment including posting jobs, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and facilitating onboarding for new hires
Contribute to employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and team-building events
Ensure policies are up to date and compliant with employment legislation; assist in audits and reporting requirements
Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers; address workplace concerns promptly and effectively
Coordinate workplace injury reporting, manage WorkSafeBC claims, and liaise with employees, managers, and the insurance board to ensure timely resolution and compliance
Support performance review cycles, assist with goal setting, and provide guidance to managers on performance improvement processes
Help coordinate learning initiatives, track employee participation, and recommend skill-building opportunities
Prepare employee letters such as offers, promotions, and disciplinary notices
Coordinate workplace investigations, ensuring proper documentation and confidentiality
Maintain accurate employee records, prepare HR reports, and manage HRIS data integrity
Skills/Qualifications:
Certificate or degree in Human Resource Management or a related field, and minimum of 3-5 years related experience in a Human Resources Generalist role
Strong knowledge and understanding of HR policies and procedures
Solid understanding of best practices and current regulations specific to HR
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Team player willing to help wherever needed
Highly responsive and approachable, with a strong customer service orientation
Reliable person of integrity who carefully manages confidential information
Demonstrated ability to thrive when working independently, taking initiative wherever possible
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS; experience with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
Working toward CPHR is an asset
