We are one of Western Canada's most aggressive and vertically integrated group of Companies, currently recruiting for a Human Resource Generalist opportunity at our Corporate office in Sherwood Park, AB.

Our group is compromised of building supply yards, steel roofing & siding manufacturing and engineered steel building manufacturing. We are a dynamic group of companies with exponential growth and change potential.

The ideal candidate will have experience in HR or employee recruitment, with a thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures. The bulk of the role will involve employee orientations, benefits administration, compensation, rewards, and conflict resolution, and there is great opportunity for developing and refining systems. We're eager to find a human resources manager who connects easily with people and has a detail-oriented mindset for handling the dynamic nature of today's workforce.

Objectives of this role:

Oversee and refine employee standards and procedures, using existing HR systems as well as improved or recommended processes

Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, expense reimbursement, and vacation

Assist with recruitment efforts, and prepare employees for their assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs

Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial HR regulations by conducting investigations and maintaining records

Identify and recommend improvements to internal standard operating procedures, including team restructuring and morale building

Responsibilities:

Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions

Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection

Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs

Recommending, planning and implementing pay structure revisions

Ensures planning, monitoring and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors

Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs

Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and provincial requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings

Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; reviewing professional publications

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees

Maintains staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results

Required skills and qualifications:

Three or more years of experience in human resources or employee recruitment

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ethical mindset

Adept at problem solving and conflict resolution

Benefits administration

Performance management

Compensation and wage structure

Employment law

Writing and administering policies and procedures

Knowledge of WCB

Knowledge of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba Provincial Legislation

Preferred skills and qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in human resources or related field

Strong understanding of Federal and Provincial laws and legislation related to HR

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
