Job Description

a.p.i. Alarm Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of HR best practices and employment legislation, with hands-on experience across recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments to deliver HR support across a fast-paced organization.



1. Recruitment & Onboarding



Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks. Prepare and issue offer letters, employment contracts, and onboarding documentation. Facilitate orientation sessions for new hires and support their integration into the company.

2. Employee Relations



Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding company policies, benefits, and procedures. Support the resolution of employee concerns, escalating issues to HR Manager when necessary. Promote a positive workplace culture and assist with employee engagement initiatives.

3. HR Administration



Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System). Ensure timely updates of employee status changes, benefits enrollment, and other personnel data. Generate HR-related reports and documentation as needed.

4. Benefits & Compensation Support



Assist employees with benefits-related questions and claims. Support annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes. Help administer payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, salary adjustments) in coordination with Payroll Manager.

5. Compliance & Policy Administration



Ensure HR practices comply with labour laws and employment standards (e.g., ESA, OHSA). Assist with updating and maintaining HR policies and employee handbook. Track and report workplace health and safety incidents and support compliance documentation.

6. Performance Management & Training Support



Assist with performance review tracking and coordination. Support learning and development initiatives, including scheduling training sessions and maintaining records of employee training. Monitor probationary periods and remind managers of performance review timelines.

7. Termination & Offboarding



Prepare and issue termination letters Coordinate offboarding processes including exit interviews, final pay, and benefits termination. Ensure the return of company property and secure removal of system access.

8. General Support



Support HR Manager or CFO with ad hoc projects and initiatives. Participate in internal meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Stay current on HR best practices, trends, and legislative updates in Ontario.

Education & Certification



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Knowledge of labour laws, ESA (Employment Standards Act), OHSA, and Human Rights Code.

Experience



2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources generalist or coordinator role. Hands-on experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration. Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).

Skills & Competencies



Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment legislation in Ontario. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach. Ability to work independently while supporting team goals.

Assets (Nice to Have)



Experience supporting payroll or benefits administration. Previous experience in a multi-location environment. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid (3 days in office)
