About the Role



The Human Resources Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations and serve as a key resource for employees and managers across the country. This role will run the daily HR functions including but not limited to, hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities & Duties



Serves as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees and managers. Supports the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives. Maintains accurate and up-to-date HRIS records and personnel files in compliance with Canadian privacy and labor regulations. Assists in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies and procedures. Provides guidance on employment standards, human rights legislation, and other applicable laws across Canadian provinces. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings; and provide offers, etc. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Coordinates and delivers new hire orientation and employee training programs. Supports benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and responding to employee inquiries. Handles workers' compensation claims and related processes including, but not limited to, managing incident reporting and documentation, liaising with provincial workers' compensation boards (e.g., WSIB, WorkSafeBC, WCB Alberta, CNESST), coordinating return-to-work plans and accommodations in collaboration with managers and medical professionals, ensuring compliance and provincial reporting requirements and deadlines. Assists with the interpretation and application of workplace policies and resolve employee relations matters under guidance from senior HR staff. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Administer employee leaves of absence including managing all types of leaves, coordinating with payroll and benefits teams to ensure proper documentation and pay adjustments, communicating with employees throughout the leave process and ensuing compliance with provincial and federal regulations, tracking leave balances and return-to-work dates. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Prepares HR reports and metrics to support decision-making and compliance audits. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Assists with other HR tasks/operations in the U.S. as assigned. Participates in several HR projects throughout the year. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills



Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of (3) three years of experience in a generalist HR role. CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial employment legislation (e.g., ESA, Human Rights Codes, OHSA). Experience managing Workers' Compensation cases and employee leaves of absence. Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., BambooHR, ADP, Workday) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical Demands



Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,000.00-$86,000.00 per year
