Position Overview



The Human Resources Generalist will play a pivotal role in supporting the management of HR functions and providing support to both employees and management. This position will be responsible for implementing HR policies and procedures, overseeing recruitment and hiring processes, and ensuring that our workplace remains inclusive, supportive, and compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities



Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding, Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that align with CWIB's values and comply with applicable legislation, Develop and maintain a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Support employees by addressing HR-related inquiries and providing guidance on policies and benefits, Conduct performance management processes, including training, coaching, and development planning, Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation, Facilitate training programs for employees to enhance skills and capabilities, Collaborate with management to understand staffing needs and workforce planning, Monitor employee engagement and implement initiatives to foster a positive work environment, Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and changes in employment legislation, and Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Band Administrator.

Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community dynamics, with a focus on respect and sensitivity in all interactions, Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including active listening and the capacity to effectively share stories and ideas, Ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with diverse individuals and groups within the community, Experience collaborating in a team environment, valuing each member's contributions to achieve shared objectives, Proficient in mediating conflicts with emphasis on empathy, understanding differing perspectives, and utilizing restorative practices, Flexibility in responding to changing circumstances and the resiliency to navigate challenges effectively, A genuine concern for the well-being of others, actively supporting community members in need, and Dedication to personal and professional growth through continuous learning.

Experience, Education and Requirements



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Ability to seek CHPR designation is an asset, Minimum of 2 years experience in a strategic HR role, 1 additional year in administrative HR role, Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations, Proven experience working with highly confidential matter, Valid Driver's Licence and own transportation; and Ability to pass a criminal record check.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
