Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources (HR) and Safety, the HR Generalist will support HR activities via employee relations, managing and maintaining employee data, department projects and administration, the creation and distribution of HR communications, and act as a support and advisor to ACYAS management. The HR Generalist also provides day-to-day support to ACYAS in their recruitment efforts to attract and retain qualified staff through full
cycle recruitment, drive employee engagement, as well as championing the integrating best practices.
Primary Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources and Safety, provide guidance and advice to management and employees on Human Resources related matters in accordance with applicable legislations as well as internal policies, processes, and procedures.
Stay abreast of policies and laws impacting human resources, making necessary recommendations, and collaborating with the Director of Human Resources and Safety on revisions to current policies, procedures, and related documents.
Manage ongoing processes related to the employment life cycle including recruitment and onboarding, employee management, mentoring, coaching, discipline, and professional development.
Conduct ongoing job analysis audits and support the development of job descriptions as required.
Support mediation and conflict resolution between front line employees.
Support the implementation of a strategic recruitment plan, identifying future hiring needs and strategies to recruit in a highly competitive market, for both union and nonunion staff.
Coordinate and conduct stay and exit interviews, compiling themes and trends as part of regular reporting.
Submit monthly metrics to the Director of Human Resources and Safety, including sick leave and absenteeism, health and safety, leaves and disabilities, and staff and workforce demographics.
Support the coordination of employee engagement initiatives, including corporate events, communication.
Travel as required to support other regions with their Human Resource needs.
Other duties or tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources, or a related field of study.
3+ years' experience working in Human Resources.
Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders including verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated understanding of Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience using database software.
Experience maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to provide briefing and training to diverse audiences.
