Norstar Windows and Doors has an opening for an HR Generalist.

Job Details:

  • Location: 400 McNeilly Road, Stoney Creek, ON.
  • Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 per annum
  • Benefits: Company-paid group medical, dental and insurance after probation.

  • Reporting to the HR and Safety Manager, you are an HR professional who prides him/herself on the ability to juggle a multitude of projects and create positive employee experiences.
  • You will provide counsel, coaching, and support on HR programs, employee relations and respond to employee/manager questions.
  • This role is critical in executing key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal employee support, and driving HR functional excellence within our organization.
  • The ideal candidate is someone who can think outside the box with respect to recruiting and finding new talent.

Qualifications and Education:
  • Formal Human Resources education at the post-secondary level is required
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset
  • Strong experience working with MS Office
  • Experience in HR program delivery and facilitation of HR programs.
  • Sound knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and other government requirements to support compliant employee relations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment (on-boarding and off-boarding), including creating, posting, and managing job advertisements, screening and arranging interviews with candidates, and preparation of employment contracts.
  • Provide new hire orientation in corporate policies and safety.
  • Organize Norstar\'s recruiting efforts and look for new methods to attract candidates.
  • Aide in the development and maintenance of corporate policies.
  • Ensuring the issuance of the employee handbook and applicable policies, maintaining up-to-date employee profiles (including training/ disciplinary records).
  • Respond to employees\' human resource questions.
  • Assist in updating and completing job descriptions.
  • Aide in the creation and presentation of training programs.
  • Track annual job evaluations.
  • Track employee training.
  • Aide in the development of safe work procedures.
  • Assist in keeping safety boards regularly updated.
  • Assist with filing and managing of WSIB claims and return-to-work.
  • Keep Safety Data Sheets current.
  • Other duties as time and skill sets allow.
