Human Resources Generalist
to join our team at our
Coquitlam Terminal
. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, administering and supporting day-to-day Human Resources functions and activities including, but not limited to; recruitment & training; employee data management; Occupational Health & Safety; employee & labour relations, ensuring alignment with the Company Strategic Plan, culture, policies & procedures, as well as human resources best practices.
What You'll Do:
Assists recruitment with end-to-end recruitment including coordination and facilitation of onboarding and orientation.
Responsible for the administrative functions of the company Safety Program; tracking compliance with industry legislation, regulations and Occupational Health & Safety policies, procedures and practices.
Partners on and contributes to safety activities ensuring compliance with WorkSafe BC legislation including, but not limited to, assisting with monthly workplace inspections, co-chair Joint Health & Safety Committee.
Ensures compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
Supports the implementation and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and practices.
Assists with responding to employee inquiries related to benefits, leaves, pay and policies.
Collects and analyzes HR data to support decision making and reporting needs.
Participates in HR projects such as process improvements, staff engagement activities, and training.
Who You Are:
Completion of recognized post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, with a minimum of three (3) years' progressively responsible, relevant experience preferably in a unionized environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or designate is an asset.
Working knowledge of relevant legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, Human Rights Act, and Workers Compensation Act.
Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Program Management.
Knowledge and understanding of WorkSafe BC incident reporting.
Knowledge and understanding of the Transportation Industry and the National Safety Code (NSC) is an asset.
Applicable knowledge of office software and database applications, including web-based applications, Microsoft Office programs, and online recruitment tools.
Knowledge of labour relations concepts and practices and current human resources practices.
Ability to collate, organize and analyze confidential information obtained from a range of internal/external sources, to assist decision-making.
Highly organized with a proven ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to be effective in requesting and delivering information.
Self-starter who has the ability to exercise considerable independence, judgement, confidence in decision-making and requires minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as required.
