Summary
The Human Resources & Finance Assistant is a dual-role position responsible for supporting day-to-day human resources, financial, and operational tasks for the Senior Management Team. This role ensures accuracy and confidentiality while maintaining records, processing transactions, and supporting key organizational functions such as payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
This is a part-time role (three days a week) to start, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time in the future. This position requires working in person at our Welland office.
Responsibilities
Human Resources Responsibilities:
Prepare contracts for new hires, promotions, and transfers
Prepare HR-related documents such as employment verification and vacation eligibility letters
Assist with onboarding and off boarding processes
Manage the Company group benefits, long-term disability and RRSP program
Maintain and update employee records and HR databases
Assist in payroll preparation and tracking leave balances
Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and labor laws
Handle general HR inquiries and provide support to employees
Finance Responsibilities:
Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing
Process expense reports and maintain petty cash
Prepare bank deposits
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Liaise with vendors and internal departments regarding payments and financial queries
Prepare charitable tax receipts
Qualifications
College diploma in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
3 years of experience in a HR or finance support role (dual experience preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiarity with accounting/HR software (QuickBooks)
Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated problem solving skills and initiative
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
