Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all employee status changes and payroll change notices are completed and sent to the appropriate department.
Maintain all employment files, scan and upload employment documents to the payroll system, maintain all current HR files.
Perform file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained; assist with the maintenance of records related to grievances, performance reviews and disciplinary actions; ensure discipline, layoff and termination documents are submitted to respective union; assist with the day-to-day operations of the HR department.
Maintain and update seniority lists for respective business units.
Maintain safety training logs pertaining to MHE certifications and first aid certifications, coordinating initial certification, renewals and recertifications with the Safety Manager.
Prepare and maintain reports, presentations and/or documentation, researches and supports special projects as required.
Adheres to guidelines as set out in the organization's policies.
Remains in compliance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code, the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code, and participates in the Health and Safety program.
Supports the employee life cycle, recruitment, and onboarding functions across all business units.
Act as a talent gate keeper and ensure candidates have a positive experience for their first contact with the organization.
Receive applications, screen resumes, phone screen candidates and schedule interviews as directed. Assist in the interview process when required.
Ensure pre-employment requirements are met, check applicant credentials, references, obtain Criminal Record checks, arrange MHE certifications.
Complete and present employment offer letters to successful applicants.
Facilitate new hire HR orientations, submit new hire packages to the payroll department.
Performs related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Completion of post-secondary program in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Business Administration with a minimum of 5+ years' experience in a similar role.
Previous experience in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
Experience working with teams in multiple locations in a 3PL warehousing environment is considered an asset.
Previous experience with HRIS programs, such as, Avanti.
Strives to continually enhance the quality and delivery of services through efficiencies and innovation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to gain input and ensure mutual understanding that encourages participation and collaboration in the delivery of programs and services.
The ability to deliver presentations and prepare clear and concise reports to various stakeholders is required.
High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and other programs.
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
Proven achievement of results through strength in sound decision-making, collaboration, and time-management is key to success in the role.
Ability to maintain a sound judgment and sensibility during stressful and demanding situations.
Requirements:
Valid and clean 5-year Drivers Abstract.
The position will be located at our West Edmonton facility and is accessible by Edmonton Transit System (ETS). The candidate must provide their own method of transportation to and from the facility daily.
Candidates will be required to have their own CSA approved steel-toed safety footwear for facility purposes.
The work setting is an office environment using computers and other office equipment.
This role requires lifting up to 10lbs.
May require periods of prolonged sitting and periods of walking and standing.
