Overview

The Human Resources Associate will support the day-to-day activities of a fast-paced human resources department where there is a large focus on full scale recruitment and onboarding of new staff. They will also be involved in general HR administrative functions, information maintenance, unique HR related projects and programs, and will play a key role in creating a positive employee experience across the broader organization.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide first rate customer service with the goal of prompt resolution of requests, acting as a point of contact for all staff as required
  • Ensure there is an excellent flow of information to all levels of the organization
  • Be able to direct staff to where assistance can be obtained as required
  • Be familiar with and be able to advise staff on ROH policies and procedure
  • Gain an intimate understanding of all roles within ROH
  • Conduct and advise HR functions in accordance with the current legislations
  • Orchestrate full-cycle recruitment activities including; advertisement preparation, assistance with resume screening, scheduling, and assisting in interviewing, reference checking and new hire paperwork, file set up, facilitating new employee on-boarding
  • Organize and maintain employee files, both hard copies and data entry into employee database
  • Documentation maintenance i.e.., annual training, required annual declarations, policy and procedure updates, etc.
  • Create and maintain HR related reports
  • Assist in completing special projects
  • Participate in committees as they relate to employee relations i.e., Wellness
  • Participate in the planning of employee related and ROH functions
  • Provide support to the Director of Human Resources as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent experience in the field

Experience

  • 2 \xe2\x80\x93 4 years of generalized HR experience, post education

Certifications

  • In the possession of or in the process of working towards CHRP designation an asset

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required to be successful in this position

  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with all levels of the organisation with a strong commitment to service
  • A good understanding of roles that work with and assist a vulnerable population
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Has an experienced understanding of working with confidential information and the provisions of PIPEDA
  • Demonstrated ability to perform full scale recruitment responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management practices
  • Familiarity with administration of organizational policies and procedures
  • Proven working knowledge of employment legislation; Employment Standards Act and the Ontario Health and Safety Act
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work, sometimes with conflicting priorities
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Works with a high degree of consciousness and has a strong eye for detail
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension in the English language; secondary language skills would be an asset
  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office programs Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook at an intermediate level

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check/Police Check
  • Valid, unrestricted Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d Driver\'s licence
  • Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract

Physical Demands

  • This position requires the incumbent to work in an office environment with occasional requirements to be at \xe2\x80\x9cprogram\xe2\x80\x9d locations. The incumbent will be working in a seated position for the majority of time
  • This position requires the incumbent to communicate with a variety of individuals, both internally (i.e.: executive group, director group, management group, employees) and externally (i.e.: interview candidates, referees)
