Human Resources Assistant
to join our HR team during a maternity leave coverage term.
This role will be essential in supporting various HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, payroll administration, and training coordination. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong grasp of HR management practices, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Post job openings across platforms, track applicants through our ATS, and coordinate interviews.
Assist with new hire onboarding, orientation, and compliance training.
Support our campus recruitment and seasonal hiring campaigns.
Employee Relations & HR Support
Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related questions from employees and managers.
Provide guidance on HR policies, employee programs, and company initiatives.
Support employee engagement initiatives and performance management cycles.
Systems & Administration
Collect and process payroll-related data in coordination with Finance and Payroll Specialist.
Maintain and update employee records in ADP Workforce Now and HRIS systems.
Assist with reporting, HR metrics, and compliance documentation required under Health Canada regulations and provincial labor standards.
Training & Development
Work with the Training Coordinator to ensure mandatory and recurring training (e.g., Health & Safety, GMP, WHMIS) is delivered and tracked.
Support internal professional development initiatives.
Projects & Compliance
Contribute to HR projects, such as pay band reviews, policy updates, and change management initiatives.
Ensure adherence to applicable legislation including Employment Standards Acts (BC & Ontario), Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and Health Canada compliance.
Skills & Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred).
Strong understanding of HR practices including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency with MS Office; Salesforce experience an asset.
Previous HR administrative experience preferred; cannabis industry experience an asset.

Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour
