HR Generalist

SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist works under the direction of the HR Manager and is responsible for managing a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the HR department and ensuring smooth HR operations. As the first point of contact for employees on HR-related matters, the HR Generalist must possess a broad understanding of HR disciplines to effectively manage the employee lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITY:

Assist the HR Manager in the full hiring cycle, including pre-screening applications, scheduling interviews, conducting initial interviews, performing reference checks, preparing job offers and employment contracts, and conducting exit interviews. Champion culture initiatives as directed by the HR Manager. Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new production employees. Maintain employee records and manage administrative tasks such as monthly HRDC reports, employee referral tracking, time and attendance system administration, pay structure updates, and leave calendars. Oversee employee benefits programs (Blue Cross) for production staff, including claims resolution, enrollment/termination, and communication of benefits information; initiate DPSP/RRSP paperwork. Prepare and distribute monthly performance review packages for Production Supervisors and enter data changes. Ensure compliance with HR policies and labor laws; assist in developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures. Document change notices in the absence of the Production Administrator. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Post-secondary education in Human Resources; CPHR designation or candidacy is an asset. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to model accountability and maintain alignment with organizational mission, vision, and values. High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. Conflict resolution and relationship-building capabilities. Adaptability to changing priorities and assignments. Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
WORK CONDITIONS:

Manual dexterity required for computer use. Occasional exposure to construction sites. Able to sit for extended periods.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $46,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
