The Human Resource Generalist supports all areas of human resources functions within the agency by working closely with internal and external stakeholders. This role provides hands-on support in all areas including recruitment and onboarding, performance management, compensation, disability and leave management, employee relations, health and safety and HR data reporting.



The Human Resource Generalist serves as a trusted resource to promote a positive, respectful and compliant workplace. This role contributes to the effective delivery of human resource initiatives. The Human Resource Generalist ensures employment legislation, policies, procedures, and agency standards are being met.


Education and Professional Certification




Diploma or degree in human resource management, business administration, or related field of study. Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.

Experience




Minimum one (1) year of experience in human resources.

Duties and Responsibilities




Services




Support recruitment and onboarding process including job postings, offer letters, pre-employment documentation and communicate with new employees throughout the hiring process. Develop, maintain, and update human resources documentation such as employee change forms, HR service portal tickets, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately, in a timely manner and maintain confidentiality. Prepare and organize HR documentation and internal communication to support HR operations including; recruitment and onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation, disability and leave management, HR data reporting. Support the preparation of data for the performance management process and prepares and distributes evaluation correspondence for the agency. Participate in career fairs and recruitment events to help attract potential candidates. Liaise with external stakeholders (i.e. educational faculties) and coordinate practicum student and volunteer placements. Coordinate, process and maintain education tuition assistance, and paid education leave applications, secondary employment, contracts, summer student grant applications, SINP and IRCC inquiries. Administer entry and exit surveys and distribute reports. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Leadership




Advise and coach management and employees in the areas of policies and procedures, recruitment and selection, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and talent management. Provide leadership and training to new employees, practicum students, and volunteers. Role model agency values and HR best practices. Ensure employment legislation, policies, procedures, and agency standards are being met.


Management of Resources




Seek to improve processes and enhance services and efficiencies within the department and across the agency. Participate in the successful implementation of HR initiatives and ensure assigned projects are delivered within proposed timeframes and budgets.


Safety




Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures. Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.


Additional Requirements





The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.



Annual Salary range is $59,779.20 to $77,292.79
