We are currently in search of an HSE Superintendent , to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures, in accordance with the corporate guidelines, the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company HSE Systems.
• Support, advise and provide HSE expertise to the management on jobsite safety and regulatory compliance.
• Take responsibility for own health, safety, and environmental protection, as well as that of direct reports, the public, and visitors to the site(s).
• Provide HSE Leadership to ensure the elements of the HSE MS are communicated and shared within the site.
• Provide an active and visible leadership role in all HSE initiatives.
• Support project teams to facilitate and complete GRAs.
• Assist preconstruction team to promote early HSE plans within Project Hazard Assessment (PHA).
• Compile and summarize HSE statistical data, identify undesirable trends and recommend corrective action.
• Recommend and support HSE initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate the HSE MS.
• Assess site-specific requirements and / or review of PSSPs.
• Assess local regulations, client requirements, emergency protocols, safe work plans and procedures, and codes of practice for the PSSP.
• Contribute expertise to investigations of all incidents, when applicable.
• Identify the resources required to implement the HSE MS.
• Recognize HSE performance.
• Liaise and coordinate HSE s training needs.
• Carries out any in-house safety training
• Report on the effectiveness of HSE MS to Management.
• Review incidents as feedback to the HSE MS for continuous improvement.
• Hold direct reports accountable for HSE performance.

Planning and Process

Assist the crisis communication process, when required.

Provide post-audit support for action plan development and implementation.

Client Focus

Interact with regulatory bodies and clients, taking a hands-on approach and acting as the point of contact.

Deal with issues and support the company as required.

Participate in safety associations.

Build and maintain effective working relationships.

Health, Safety, Environment

Demonstrate HSE behaviors that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.

Education, Experience and Knowledge Required

• Certification in Health and Safety, or a safety designation
• Understanding of how HSE MS systems work
• Knowledge of volume of work, size of team, and size of organization standards
• Strong understanding of provincial regulations
• Deep knowledge of WCB processes and claims Management
• Strong background and understanding of Industrial, Civil and Commercial work environments
• Strong grasp of safety terminology
• Ability to prepare and facilitate meetings and presentations
• Ability to communicate effectively to persons of varying roles and levels of understanding
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and online reporting software

Ability to travel to Northern work locations as required.

This position comes with benefits, industry-competitive salary, bonuses, and other perks. Candidate must be in the Saskatoon area or willing to relocate to Saskatoon. Relocation costs will not be covered.
