Health, Safety and Environment Manager (\xe2\x80\x9cHSE Manager\xe2\x80\x9d) \xe2\x80\x93 Wainwright, Alberta Komat Drilling Ltd. is seeking a full-time HSE Manager to join our growing operations team in Wainwright, Alberta. Komat Drilling Ltd. (\xe2\x80\x9cKomat\xe2\x80\x9d) is a pre-set drilling company that has been in business for over 20 years. Komat has field offices in Wainwright and Kindersley with operations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The company is experiencing a growth phase as it begins to offer more turnkey services. Position Summary The HSE Manager located in Wainwright reports to the President and Operations Manger. This role is focused on supporting the safe, reliable and compliant operations of Komat. This position is office based, travel is required to field locations and areas of operation. Summary of Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
  • Schedule, conduct, and document new hire safety orientation (H2S, CPR, First Aid, etc.) and all other HSE training for employees
  • Ensure and track employees, contractors have all required safety tickets, and training ensuring eligibility for work
  • Liaison with internal and external customers and third parties, to increase awareness of HSE matters
  • Provide support for implementing and maintaining HSE program/systems (Examples: Hazard Identification, Hazard Assessment documentation, Inspections, Near Miss Reporting, and Incident Investigation)
  • Responsible for the application of project and business HSE Documentation and applicable databases
  • Audit and monitoring compliance to Komat and customer HSE Management Systems (ComplyWorks, ISNetWorld, 8am Solutions, Avetta)
  • Support safety meetings by providing relevant information for use during the meeting and actively participating
  • Identify HSE coaching opportunities throughout the organization, offer yourself as an HSE mentor and actively participate in improving Komat Culture
  • Complete pre-spud meetings & site visits with crews
  • Complete observations on crews and hazard ID\xe2\x80\x99s ensuring controls and programs are put in place
  • Ensure field documentation is filed in accordance with Komat and Operators standards
  • Ensure accurate initial incident notification within allotted timeframe and follow Komat/Operator Processes
Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in health, safety and occupational training knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the oil and gas industry is mandatory, with preference given to drilling rig knowledge
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under tight deadlines and reliably handle confidential information
  • Preference given to an individual currently working towards or completed a professional safety designation -Certificate or Diploma in OH&S, NCSO, CRSP
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Outgoing, eager to learn, strong work ethic with the ambition to grow in the HS&E field
  • Willingness to take action when directed
  • Practices active listening skills and is a direct and clear communicator
  • Builds productive relationships with HS&E and operations, is a cooperative and supportive team member
