Field HSE Advisor

to join our team.



As the

Field HSE Advisor,

you will work alongside the HSE Manager to troubleshoot issues and proactively address on-site safety concerns. Candidates with a range of experience levels are encouraged to apply, including recent post-secondary graduates and individuals new to the industry with a demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and continuous learning.


Position Summary





The Field HSE Advisor is a key member of the Health, Safety team, responsible for providing on-site safety leadership and technical support across active project locations. This role is focused on field operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and client requirements. The Field HSE Advisor works closely with site management, supervisors, and workers to foster a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement in field safety performance.


Key Responsibilities




Field Safety Leadership: Serve as a visible safety leader on project sites, modeling best practices and promoting a positive safety culture among all workers and contractors. Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular field inspections, hazard assessments, and audits to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential risks. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented. Incident Response: Lead or support investigations of field incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventive measures. Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all field activities comply with company HSE policies, client standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices. PPE & Equipment Oversight: Verify proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear. Ensure field staff are equipped and trained for site-specific hazards. Hazard Communication: Identify and communicate site-specific hazards and control measures to all field personnel. Support the development and review of field Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Emergency Preparedness: Participate in emergency response planning and drills. Ensure field teams are familiar with site-specific emergency procedures. Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance field safety practices and contribute to the development of new initiatives.

Qualifications & Competencies



Completion of a diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or completion of the NCSO designation. Valid Field safety certifications (CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive) would be an asset but not necessary. Minimum 2 years of field safety experience in construction, environmental, or industrial sectors (new graduates with strong field presence and willingness to learn will be considered). Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and industry standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage and influence field teams. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites. Ability to work with limited supervision in dynamic field environments and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), with familiarity using monitoring or reporting systems to track safety, compliance, or operational performance considered an advantage. Adaptability to changing conditions and willingness to take on new challenges

Working Conditions




Primarily field-based role with some office responsibilities and regular travel to various project locations. Full-time, overtime and extended hours may be necessary based on project needs. Exposure to outdoor work environments and varying weather conditions. Compensation dependent on experience level.
