Operations include two manufacturing plants located in Edmonton and Customer Solution Centres located in Langley, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg.
We are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Coordinator for our Edmonton Health and Safety department, with the hours of 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. This individual is responsible for providing administrative support to the Health & Safety department by coordinating with various aspects of the day-to-day operations The primary duties would include coordinating, booking and tracking safety training, maintaining various documents and records, and providing a high quality of general administrative support.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate & maintain safety training by tracking expiration dates, scheduling/booking appointments, following-up to confirm that the required training and documentation is complete and documented and creating training certifications as required.
  • Organizing with supervisors and trainers (external and internal) the new and recertification courses.
  • Update and maintain SharePoint with all relevant Health & Safety information.
  • Oversee in tracking contractor, client and visitor orientations, while updating a compliance matrix.
  • Create, update, and maintain employee safety files.
  • Maintain a current SDS information system. This involves researching information, updating SDS sheets and ensuring binders are current and well maintained.
  • Perform data entry for various databases/spread sheets as required. Keep data current by entering information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Generate and distribute various internal reports as directed.
  • Maintain, update and distribute the H & S manual and maintain associated records.
  • Conduct research and gather data on various topics as required.
  • Organize and coordinate various meetings, prepare and distribute agendas, take meeting minutes and track action items.
  • Assist with the development and formatting of various documents such as but not limited to Safe Work Practices, Hazard Assessments and Work Procedures.
  • Maintain a workstation manual.
  • Provide back-up support to other team members as required and where trained.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to all Health and Safety.

Primary Qualifications Required:
  • Business Administration Certificate or related Health and Safety education would be an asset
  • Working towards and/or having completed a Post-Secondary level Occupational Health and Safety Program, MSO, NCSO or equivalent would be preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 of relevant office experience is required.
  • H&S experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta OH&S Legislation, WCB, Alberta PIR/COR would be an asset.
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Interpersonal and organization skills
  • Proven multi-taking, problem solving, attention to detail and prioritizing skills required
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner a must
  • Must have a valid Alberta drivers\xe2\x80\x99 license and clean Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
  • Must pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing
