About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The North America HR Service Delivery team offers a centralized North America support model. This broadened footprint encompasses approximately 4,000 employees located in offices and sites in the U.S and Canada..
The North America Time and Attendance Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert to ensure Canadian time and attendance programs, processes and systems are administered in alignment with the company policies and guidelines, as well as compliant with legal and fiscal regulations through specialized administration, data analysis, reporting, and other activities.
The North America Time and Attendance Specialist will work closely with Benefits team, Payroll, Legal, HR Sites, Accounting, Compensation, Canada Site Nurses, and Corporate to provide recommendations and proposals for program improvements or plan design changes that align with employee engagement, wellness, and retaining talent.
The North America Time and Attendance Specialist will work with employees across Canada to explain organizational or provincial policies and procedures related to time and attendance programs (leaves, paid time off, sick time, etc.).

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Time & Attendance Systems

  • Business Process Owner for SAP Time Entry Roles and maintain SAP Security table for access, including request accesses for new hires/ promotions.
  • Approve SAP role assignments based on employees\' position.
  • We coordinate, manage, and perform UAT enhancements request.
  • We troubleshoot when systems break down when accesses for users change and work with IT to implement resolution.
Process Improvements
  • Serve as the key collaborator and subject matter expert for Canadian leaves and time & attendance, including related projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams, providing expert guidance and insights, and finding opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Implement proactive solutions and identify processes to reduce administrative tasks, inquiries and critical issues.
Time & Attendance Administration and HR Support
  • We are the go-to person for time related system issues and questions for employees from all sites.
  • We collaborate closely with Payroll, Benefits, and Local HR teams and Nurses to ensure accurate application of programs and policies.
  • We stay up-to-date understanding of relevant topics, laws, and regulations, including but not limited to anything related to WC, UI, Canadian Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Revenue Canada guidelines and associated programs.
  • Issue annual Salaried employees\' vacation quotas in SAP.
  • We prepare and submit the requirements for the creation or deactivation or changes of absence/attendance codes.
  • We calculate and process the conversion of vacation quotas for employees who transfer from hourly to salaried and vice-versa, as well as transfers from Site to Corporate.
  • We review new hire\xe2\x80\x99s VA quota and transfers from site to corporate\xe2\x80\x99s PTO\xe2\x80\x99s are accurately set up. Review Terminations PTO payout to ensure its accuracy.
  • We process quota adjustments for returning LOA\xe2\x80\x99s, Mat, and Parental leaves.
  • We handle Pension contributions and recurring payments for employees while on LOA and ensure accurate rates of pay upon employee\xe2\x80\x99s return from LOA.
  • We work in collaboration with Local HR, mine clerks, supervisors and Payroll to investigate and resolve pay discrepancies.
  • We monitor vacation taken and balances to ensure compliance to Employment Standards & Policy.
  • We maintain up-to-date information on all claims, making recommendations for resolution if issues arise.
  • We develop process documentation for time entry creating procedures, templates, best practices, standards, guidelines, and policies to create effective and consistent practices.
  • We support HRDM and HR Systems projects and assist the broader needs of the department as required.
  • We assist in ad-hoc and value-added analysis to support business objectives and priorities.
Audit and Reporting
  • We create and prepare various time and attendance related reports (ad hoc) as per request from Stakeholders.
  • We create audit annual Hourly employees\' vacation quotas issued by SAP and Perform annual employees\' vacation reconciliation, monthly vacation liabilities.
  • We create and perform regular audit reports to ensure the accuracy of time and attendance records that impact employee pay.

Here is what we would need to see from you!
Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Enrollment in Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Canadian Human Resources Leader (CHRL) program would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP, KRONOS, SuccessFactors, and Employee Central preferred.
  • Knowledge of multi-provincial Canadian employment law preferred.
  • Ability to speak French is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience within Human Resources, with emphasis on policy interpretation, enforcement and improvement on Time Entry Systems and Canada Leaves of Absence processes. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledgeable and conversant with applicable Canadian leaves legislation/policies and procedures governing employee pension and benefits programs including Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Revenue Canada guidelines and associated programs.

  • Ability to handle work across all areas of the business and function successfully within a multi-national/cultural environment.
  • Problem identification and commitment to action on identified issues.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential material on a continuous basis in an extremely professional manner.
  • Ability to support multiple time zones across the North America locations.

Working conditions & location

Where you will be located!
  • The position will consider incumbents based in Canada or United States.
  • This position is work from home, location is flexible in Canada and the US; preferably, Eastern Canada.

The salary range offered for this role is $80,720-95,855. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate\xe2\x80\x99s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company\xe2\x80\x99s performance and their own individual performance.
