Overview:

The HR Generalist / Safety Coordinator provides hands-on support to both human resources and safety operations across our northern BC sawmill sites. This dual-role position plays a key part in fostering a safe, productive, and engaged workplace. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, self-directed professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys being a trusted partner to mill leadership and employees alike.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources (Approx. 60%)Support the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training coordination, and offboarding. Advise supervisors and employees on HR policies, collective agreements, and employment standards. Facilitate the resolution of employee relations matters in a fair, consistent, and confidential manner. Maintain employee records and assist with HR reporting, compliance tracking, and workforce analytics. Support workforce planning and talent development initiatives in partnership with site leadership.

Health & Safety (Approx. 40%)Lead and promote a proactive safety culture across all three sites. Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and internal safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations. Facilitate safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency preparedness drills. Maintain required documentation and records for COR and WorkSafeBC audits.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in both Human Resources and Health & Safety, ideally within a manufacturing or wood products environment. Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field preferred. Strong knowledge of BC employment legislation and WorkSafeBC regulations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Highly self-directed with strong organizational and time management abilities. Valid BC Driver's License and willingness to travel regularly between sites.
