Description:HR Generalist I - Ajax, ON

Location: Ajax, ON

Term: Contract Position; 12 months (extendable)

Shift: Monday-Friday; 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Pay Rate: $35-$38 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will have experience performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with senior HR management, internal and external stakeholders.
The Human Resources Generalist will be actively involved in the following functional areas:

  • Labour relations
  • Recruitment
  • On-boarding/Off-boarding
  • Wellness Program
  • Recognition and Rewards

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Human Resources Team
  • Assist in all aspects of employee onboarding as required
  • Draft employment confirmation letters, HR communications, and other requested documentation on an ad-hoc basis
  • Ensure all administrative aspects of the recruitment life cycle are handled efficiently and effectively, including coordinating and conducting interviews, job postings, and working within the Applicant Tracking System
  • Administration of our recognition and rewards program
  • Administer and drive various health and wellness initiatives
  • Participate in various Labour Relations activities such as; understanding and administration of the collective agreement, participate and assist in union related meetings and negotiations, preparing documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, legislation change, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities of historical programs or simplifying HR processes
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees based on trust and credibility.
Qualifications:
Required: BA/BS in Business, Human Resource Management, or related field with minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Human Resources Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Local laws and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an effective and active listener and have effective interpersonal, persuasive, and analytical skills. Professional communication skills across diverse cultures and managerial levels.
  • Independent and organized work style: can effectively manage time and prioritize workload, manages multiple tasks without close supervision, and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Management: establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude in working with people.
  • Adaptability: Adapts easily to change, performs calmly under pressure and works effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong MS Office skills including MS Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong adherence to company confidentiality policies
