Job Description


Your role as an HR Generalist will be far from one-dimensional. You’ll undertake a wide range of HR tasks, like organizing trainings, administering employee benefits and leaves, managing employee life cycle right from entry to exit, dealing with employee relations and crafting HR policies. You will use BambooHR to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. And you’ll also act as the main point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related topics.
The goal is to ensure the HR department’s operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.
What will you be doing?

  • Implementing human resources programs by providing human resources services, including employment processing, health and safety, training and development, records management, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AODA compliance, and labor relations.
  • Enrolling and terminating benefit enrollment and HSA for employees
  • Leading Talent Acquisition and Recruitment initiatives
  • Conducting employee onboarding and offboarding
    • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations
  • Generating official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, employment verification etc.
  • Suggesting and organizing training & development initiatives.
  • Work closely with payroll on creation of new hire forms, termination forms and calculation or vacation and personal time to be entered in Ceridian.
  • Developing human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
  • Improving manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Completing special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Protecting organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Complying with federal and provincial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Providing support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves, compensation and resolve any employee relation issues that may arise
  • Develop and implement human resource policies
  • Undertake tasks around performance management, helping to organise and roll out annually to all staff
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
  • Organize annual employee performance reviews
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic form vis BambooHR and SharePoint
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
  • Other duties as assigned by one’s manger

Do you have the following knowledge?
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Knowledge of performance management
  • Experience in Talent Acquisition and Recruiting
  • Employee relations experience

What we are looking for!
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. BambooHR) will be a plus
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
  • BSc/BA in HR or relevant field
  • Additional HR training will be a plus

Location:
  • Remote, Ottawa.

Term:
  • 12-month term (Mat- Leave Coverage) with benefits, paid vacation/ personal time and RRSP contribution.
