About the Portfolio



Real Estate Ancillary Operations and Partnerships (REAP)

supports McMaster's goal to diversify and expand its revenue in support of the academic and research missions, while championing an ongoing focus on operational and service excellence for the campus community. This portfolio encompasses oversight of a dedicated real estate strategy for the institution, the ongoing development of key university partnerships (i.e. McMaster Innovation Park), Parking Services, and the University's critically important ancillary services, including Hospitality Services, the Campus Store, and Media Production Services.


The Department of Real Estate, Ancillaries and Partnerships HR Coordinator provides human resources and talent management related services and support to hiring managers within the department to optimally support its diverse activities in administration and operational services.


Reporting to the Senior HR Strategic Partner, the HR Coordinator is responsible for organizing and performing a full range of administrative duties that require a thorough understanding of established HR functions, policies, and procedures. This includes responsibility for accurately supporting payroll and human resources transactions and providing general recruitment and onboarding support, primarily for short-term and limited-term hires. This will include coordination and facilitation of activities, meetings and documentation supporting job postings, recruitment and selection processes, general HR reporting and administration, as well as processing and monitoring of related HR eForms and other HR transactions from the Ancillaries perspective.


This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with, and/or advocating for continuous improvements in, HR policies and procedures, requiring core knowledge of university policies and procedures as well as relevant external legislation (e.g. Employee Standards Act, Canada Human Rights Code, WSIA, etc.) and best practices. The incumbent will support the Senior Human Resources Strategic Partner, HR Partner and other administrators on HR programs and initiatives where required.


Qualifications:







Education:



Degree or Diploma in a related field with a focus in Human Resources/ Industrial Relations CHRP designation strongly preferred


Experience:



3 years' HR generalist/administrative experience, preferably in a large, unionized environment


Knowledge/Skills:



Experience in an academic administrative setting an asset Functional knowledge and broad experience in all areas of human resources policies, practices, processes, and legislation Demonstrated ability to analyze and address employee and policy issues and exercise sound and experienced judgment in providing advice and guidance, often in ambiguous situations Early adopter of process enhancements and demonstrated agility in service delivery of programs Ability to build trust, follows through, ensures people feel heard, acts with integrity Excellent interpersonal and well-developed communication skills Computer proficiency with high level of competence in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft and HR modules an asset
