Job Description

The Opportunity: The HR Coordinator is a member of the HR Team at the Brampton Poultry plant supporting 350 hourly employees and upholding company policies and programs in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The incumbent is responsible for establishing credibility with employees by addressing and responding to inquiries and managing employee relations in a unionized environment. He/she must ensure timelines are met with a high level of accuracy while producing high quality work.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • First point of contact for Client group of approximately 350 hourly employees
  • Update employee information in SAP including job, wage, address, direct deposit; ensure Kronos (time and attendance system) is updated and payroll reports are processed weekly
  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment activities involving screening, interviewing, conducting reference checks and managing the referral program
  • Coordination of internal job postings, transfers, layoffs, recalls and related administration
  • Schedule and conduct new hire orientation and manage all onboarding activities
  • Build strong relationships with Managers and Supervisors, and ensure they are knowledgeable on HR programs, policies and procedures.
  • Manage employee benefits and pension plans through third party provider including enrollments, changes and terminations
  • Work with Corporate Payroll department to follow up on employee inquiries & reconciliations
  • Uphold the Collective Bargaining agreement including assisting Supervisors with investigations, documenting and facilitating grievance meetings
  • Review and update HR policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required
What You'll Bring:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour or Industrial Relations an asset
  • Previous experience in HR, LR and/or Unionized manufacturing environment an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication (oral, written, listening) skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active team player
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, prioritization and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects
  • Ability to coach, train and influence others
  • Able to exercise timely, good judgment in day-to-day business decisions
  • Ability to proactively improve current processes and increase efficiencies
  • Strong computer skills, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Office and Outlook; Kronos & SAP experience an asset
