Job Description


Reporting to: Director, Human Resources

The Senior HR Business Partner is an experienced human resource professional who will work

directly with senior managers, directors, and business leaders to manage and implement

strategic HR policies and initiatives that support the company\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives, growth and

overall performance.

As the Sr HR business partner, your responsibilities will primarily fall within these four pillars:

\xef\x82\xb7 Emergency Responder: providing solutions to organizational emergencies

\xef\x82\xb7 Strategic Partner: designing and implementing enterprise-wide strategies to resolve

organizational challenges

\xef\x82\xb7 Employee Mediator: creating sustained solutions to individual employee challenges

\xef\x82\xb7 Operations Manager: measuring and monitoring existing HR policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

\xef\x82\xb7 You are a trusted advisor to managers within your client group, providing guidance and

coaching on workforce planning, change management, organizational development,

compensation planning and leading a highly engaged, high performance team.

\xef\x82\xb7 Acts as first point of contact for HR related queries for managers and employees in

designated client business units. Provides guidance and support on recruitment,

employee relations, and performance management ensuring alignment with common

human resources strategies and processes.

\xef\x82\xb7 Supports the Human Resources team in the implementation of strategic Human

Resources plans, HR systems and best practice policies and procedures.

\xef\x82\xb7 Collaborates with Talent Acquisition team and is a trusted partner to the business leader,

supporting recruiting for professional and scientific roles within designated client group.

\xef\x82\xb7 Partners with the Total Rewards team to manage benefit and incentive programs.

\xef\x82\xb7 Identifies opportunities for process improvements within the company\xe2\x80\x99s HR operations,

and participates in initiatives to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and value-adding

capacity of the HR group.

\xef\x82\xb7 Ensures compliance with legal and legislative requirements and adherence to human

resources policies and procedures.

\xef\x82\xb7 Actively works to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working

relationships amongst employees, management and external partners.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

\xef\x82\xb7 A university degree in a relevant field in addition to a minimum of 5 to 7 years of

related experience and the successful completion of professional designation(s) in

Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

\xef\x82\xb7 Demonstrated experience as an HR Business Partner in a biotech, pharma, or scientific environment required and a must have. Please do not apply if you do not have this.

\xef\x82\xb7 Well-developed competencies in core HR functional areas: compensation,

organizational structure and design, performance management, employment law,

leadership development and employee relations.

\xef\x82\xb7 Cross-border or international experience (we have operations in Canada, US and

Ireland) a big plus.

\xef\x82\xb7 Deeply knowledgeable of Canadian employment law and standards required; a working

knowledge of US employment standards and law strongly preferred

\xef\x82\xb7 Ability to lead through example and to establish an environment fostering effective and

collaborative working relationship

\xef\x82\xb7 Extensive experience in business and human resources, ability to understand core

business functions, how business units interact, combined with a cultural awareness and

sensitivity.

\xef\x82\xb7 Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent deliverables and

work effectively in a challenging, milestone-driven environment

\xef\x82\xb7 Highly developed leadership and problem solving skills, the confidence and ability to act

on initiatives and successfully execute.

\xef\x82\xb7 You are a change champion, you are adept at effectively managing change and

transformation, you take on disruptive challenges and minimize impact to the business

\xef\x82\xb7 Ability to exercise professionalism, sound judgement and discretion when handling

issues of a difficult sensitive or confidential nature.

\xef\x82\xb7 Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding departmental and personnel matters.

\xef\x82\xb7 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

\xef\x82\xb7 A proven ability to negotiate effectively.

\xef\x82\xb7 Strong oral, written and listening skills

\xef\x82\xb7 Our HRIS is SAP SuccessFactors, experience in this or another large, auditable HRIS

system strongly preferred.
