As the Benefits Specialist, you’ll play an important role in ensuring that our global benefits processes are running efficiently. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day benefits administration of processing, documenting, maintaining, and communicating core benefits actions essential to our global benefits operations. You’ll be immersed in our medical, dental, vision, retirement and wellness engagement programs. Your input on our benefits plan design and operations will be welcomed, considered, and put into action. Your interaction with our employees will have a direct impact on how they experience and value benefits and perks at 1Password.


This is a Remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2 - 5 years experience in global benefits administration and compliance, focusing on U.S. and Canada benefits.
  • Experience with U.K. or Netherlands benefits considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding and ability to manage vendor relationships, benefit plans, and a general interest in other aspects of HR for a rapidly growing tech company.
  • An enthusiastic employee champion who considers the employee perspective in their work and the downstream impacts of actions.
  • Trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information.
  • High attention to detail - You can spot inconsistencies and are proactive in sharing them with your team members.
  • Conducts research and analysis, collaborates with the team to develop solutions, and resolves operational issues.
  • Partners with HR team members, payroll and department leads on benefits-related matters.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, contribute and engage with employees.
  • Flexibility with switching from project work to administrative tasks and responds quickly to employee inquiries.
  • System savvy and experience with US and global benefits plan administration, carriers and benefits admin systems. Expert level experience with Excel including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables. Experience with UKG Pro and UKG Benefits Prime, Slack, and Notion is a plus!

What you can expect:

  • Tackle the day-to-day administration of our global benefits programs.
  • Deliver engaging and empathic support to employee inquiries.
  • Partner with team members and external vendors to ensure benefits policies and processes flow effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain and update data across multiple systems and file feeds, ensuring a high degree of accuracy.
  • Document, maintain, and communicate core benefits processes to stakeholders, managers, and employees.
  • Assist with benefits compliance requirements including pulling and vetting reports, maintaining records, reports, and logs.
  • Support with annual processes such as global renewals, annual enrollments, and other projects as needed.
  • Support benefits programs engagement including creating presentations, drafting communications, creating, and maintaining internal intranet sites.
