Your Opportunity:





Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Administrative Human Resources Services and working as an integral part of the Human Resources team, the HR Advisor provides a range of human resources services to client departments. These services include recruitment, job evaluation, salary administration, interpretation and application of human resource and payroll policies and practices, the interpretation and application of staff policies and collective agreements, organizational change, and performance management.



The HR Advisor is responsible for full-cycle recruitment, job evaluation of unionized and non-unionized positions, and for providing HR support, advice and guidance to a portfolio of assigned client groups. In consultation with the Assistant Director and/or other senior HR staff, the HR Advisor supports organizational change and restructuring processes; participates in grievance processes, contributes to attendance and disability management as a member of a cross-functional team; and participates in special projects as part of the Faculty of Arts & Science Administrative HR Team.

Essential Qualifications:



I. Education:





University degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of (or working towards) Certificate of Human Resources Professional (CHRP).

II. Experience:





Minimum two to three (2-3) years' relevant human resources experience, including experience in a combination of the following - recruitment, job evaluation, labour relations, organizational change, attendance management, performance management and salary administration.

HR experience in a unionized environment is preferred.

III. Skills:





Excellent client service orientation, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, demonstrated ability to adjust to changing operational and client needs. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial work environment. Demonstrated ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of and apply collective agreements and a wide range of policies, procedures, processes and legislation, and to learn new systems. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Demonstrated tact, discretion, judgement and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience working independently and as part of a team environment. Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment-related legislation. Prior experience applying the collective agreements of the USW Staff-Appointed, Casual, and Don bargaining units is an asset.

IV. Other:





MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) skills. Experience using HRIS preferred. Experience with SuccessFactors, JDX, or similar recruitment and/or job evaluation databases is an asset.

This is a term position ending in January 2027.
