Opportunity:

Quark Expeditions is looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active HR Advisor to be an integral part of crafting the change required to achieve future success and development of our people. In addition, you will work closely with the VP, People and play a key part of delivering a number of strategic HR projects including on-boarding, employee communication strategy, talent reviews and team planning, progress company culture, and retention efforts. This role allows for high touch on many HR areas to support a growing HR toolkit and opportunity to dive into projects of interest.

Location:

This is a hybrid role requiring the chosen candidate to go into our Toronto office up to 7 days per month

What you will be doing:

  • Along with VP, People and centralized/broader HR teams, support HR activity to help deliver the people elements of the Quark business strategy
  • Management of various daily HR queries throughout business (solutions, redirection, management involvement)
  • Supporting employee relations matters: disciplinaries, grievances, leaves, performance management, work arrangement requests across the business
  • Monitoring, reviewing, advancing and updating HR policies and processes. Ensuring alignment with legislation, consistency and organization.
  • Coordinate HR reporting in relation to projects, trend reviews and other HR tasks and actions
  • Engage in talent management initiatives to develop and retain high performers and high potential employees in the business to meet future capability requirements
  • Support people leaders, consulting with them on issues related to workplace relations and performance management
  • Foster and build employee culture and engagement through team building, staff meetings, spirited consistent communications and professional development opportunities
  • Assist in ad hoc projects as needed

What we are looking for:

  • Education in Human Resources, or related field
  • Exposure and experience in coordination, administration and championing HR initiatives
  • Fundamental knowledge of Canadian employment standards and processes (Health & Safety Act, ESA)
  • Exposure in communications platforms like canva or anything similar is considered a strong asset
  • Proactive communication and problem solving skills
  • Calm, confident decision maker
  • Strong communicator who is able to draft ER and HR related internal and external documents
  • Sound organizational skills
  • Strong unwavering integrity
  • Collaboration mindset with ability to work independently and self empower
