Description:
Under general direction of the Director, Human Resources, the incumbent provides a wide range of human resources services to client departments. These services include: recruitment, job evaluation, salary administration, interpretation and application of human resource and payroll policies and practices, the interpretation and application of staff policies and collectives agreements, organizational change, and performance management.
Responsibilities will also include advising a dedicated client group on employment-related laws and jurisprudence including the Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, etc., analyzing, evaluating and classifying both unionized and non-unionized positions; providing recruitment advice and assistance to clients; providing general advice and guidance, in consultation with other HR staff in the department, on organizational change and restructuring; contributing to attendance and disability management as a member of a cross-functional team; and participating in special projects and process re-engineering.
Qualifications Required:
EDUCATION:
University degree or the acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of (or working towards) Certificate of Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two to three years\' related HR experience, including experience with recruitment, job evaluation, labour relations, organizational change, attendance management, performance management and salary administration. Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation.
SKILLS:
Keyboarding skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience using HRIS preferred.
OTHER:
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellent client service orientation and skill/experience in cross-cultural communications. Attention to detail. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated tact, discretion, judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of clients as well as with difficult and/or sensitive situations. Experience working independently and as part of a team environment.
