The Human Resources Administrator will support HR operations at the Voisey's Bay site, with a focus on engaging and supporting our primarily Indigenous workforce. This role is critical in ensuring the effective administration of HR programs, accurate data management, and culturally respectful employee relations. The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, and experienced working in unionized or remote environments, with a strong commitment to reconciliation and Indigenous engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular site visits (5-10 days/month) to provide face-to-face HR support to employees and managers.
Maintain and update seniority and Indigenous representation reports; collect and analyze workforce data for internal and client reporting.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal Affairs, site leadership, and the client to support Indigenous employment strategies.
Support workplace investigations by coordinating logistics, tracking timelines, and assisting managers with documentation.
Oversee the Absenteeism Program: monitor attendance, track leaves, investigate trends, and prepare reports on turnover and unplanned absences.
Support managers with progressive discipline processes, ensuring fairness and adherence to policy and collective agreements.
Participate in onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring a welcoming and culturally inclusive experience for new employees.
Maintain accurate employee records, process job changes, terminations, and updates.
Act as a liaison for payroll and benefit-related inquiries, ensuring timely issue resolution.
Promote employee engagement and culturally relevant wellness initiatives.
Act as an HR representative in site-level emergency response or crisis management situations, as needed.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in an HR administrative or coordinator role, preferably in a unionized and/or remote work environment.
Experience working with or supporting Indigenous communities and a strong understanding of cultural awareness and respectful workplace practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HRIS/payroll systems.
Ability to travel to site regularly; flexible schedule to support operational needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
