The Housing Worker - Utility Role will cover multiple service delivery domains and increase departmental capacity as needed to meet client demand or offset departmental staffing shortages. Duties will range from initial intake assessments and triage for clients who are looking for support to the delivery of the Financial Stability Programs including but not limited to Housing Stability Benefit, Low income supports, Rent Supplement Program and utility arrears provided through the Hamilton Housing Help Centre.
Responsibilities & Duties (will vary based on departmental assignment)
Initial Intake
Present a positive and professional image of the HHHC to all visitors.
Perform intake assessment and triage all walk-in and phone-in clients, referring them to internal and/or external resources.
Provide program information on support services and available resources.
Respond to all inquiries and support client in accessing information and services.
Organize, maintain, and coordinate client records and manage database files.
Operational support including setting up prior to opening and closing, photocopying, stocking resources and updating listings.
Perform other duties as assigned related to major responsibilities of the job.
Direct Fund Processing
Provide information relating to program and eligibility criteria to clients, members of the public and service providers.
Meet with new clients and assist them to the complete the application process.
Complete an income statement and assessments to determine eligibility.
Provide preliminary counselling and make referrals to other services providers including in house housing support services for ineligible clients.
Carry out program Follow-ups with clients as required by program.
Prepare applications for Program supervisor review.
Third Party Payment Processing
Review and enter stats for approved applications.
Respond to client and landlord inquiries.
Update financial information/data when necessary.
Complete onsite unit inspections for program eligibility requirements
Grant & Loan Processing
Prepare grant agreements.
Arrange disbursement of grants.
Meet with clients to sign agreement.
Monitor disbursement process.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
College diploma or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
1 - 5 years customer service and community-based experience
Skills
Ability to handle all information in a confidential manner.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to exchange information clearly and concisely with team members and clientele.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise and consult with clients, other team members and community contacts.

Other Duties
Participate in Staff and other meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned, which are directly related to the major
responsibilities of the position.
Participate in health and safety activities.
1 Year Contract Position - Full Time
Hourly Rate: $23.72 hour
Earliest Anticipated Start Date: Monday November 24th, 2025
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm
