Summary of Duties



Provide housing support and eviction prevention services for Hamilton tenants who are in receipt of N13 or N12 notice to end tenancy, or tenants whose landlords have applied for Above-Guideline Increase (AGI) to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB). Help to address renovictions by providing education and support to tenants and landlords regarding their rights and responsibilities as they relate to N13 eviction notices. Assist tenants in finding alternative housing during renovations.

Responsibilities & Duties



Present a positive and professional image of the HHHC to all visitors. Provide capacity building and education to tenants about their rights and responsibilities as it relates specifically to N12 and N13 eviction notices. Provide education on existing protections against renovictions found under section 53.3 of the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) Work with landlords to ensure they understand the scope of their responsibilities and requirements under the RTA related to the issuance of N12 and N13 evictions notices. Support tenants to exercise their right of first refusal and act of their right to reoccupy their rental unit at a rental rate within the legally allowable increase parameters. Provide tenants facing N12 and N13 eviction with a housing plan and assistance locating alternative housing for the duration of the renovation. Provide housing assistance in finding new housing should the tenant elect not to return to their original housing. Link qualified tenant and landlord to existing housing rental support programs, including but not limited to, the Tenants Defense Fund. Organize, maintain and coordinate client records and manage database files. Perform other duties as assigned related to major responsibilities of the job.

Qualifications



Education & Experience



College diploma or an acceptable combination of education and experience. 1 - 5 years customer service and community-based experience. A valid driver's licence and regular access to an automobile.

Well organized and able to work with predetermined deadlines. Pleasant and tactful personality with strong verbal communication skills. Conflict resolution training is an asset.

Knowledge



Knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Knowledge of relevant computer applications including Word and Excel. Knowledge of housing resources, poverty issues and other social issues. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies including the Residential Tenancy Act, the Social Housing reform Act and other related legislation.

Other Duties



Participate in staff and other meetings. Perform other duties as assigned, which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the position. Participate in health and safety activities.

Permanent Position - Full Time



Starting Hourly Rate: $23.72 hour



Earliest Anticipated Start Date: Monday, November 3rd, 2025



Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm



Location: Primarily working throughout Hamilton Ontario, car travel required
