$49, 085 to $55,219 (pro rated)

Essential duties and responsibilities:



CICS Tenant Support Program helps tenants, especially newcomer tenants, in Toronto and York Region's private rental market understand their rights and responsibilities through accessible, multilingual information and referrals. ? We are currently seeking a Part-Time Program Worker to support our Tenant Support Program in York Region. This role will focus on client intake, outreach, coordination of community connections, and administrative support.

Support the implementation of tenant support activities by assisting with outreach, intake, and frontline service delivery. Work collaboratively with the program legal support team to coordinate logistics for community events, workshops, and outreach activities, as well as to conduct legal research and manage case files. Assist with maintaining relationships with local service providers and community partners to promote education on tenant rights and available supports. Help identify and engage newcomers and other underserved populations (e.g., 2SLGBTQI+, persons with disabilities, low income, single parents, Indigenous and racialized tenants), providing culturally sensitive, responsive support. Distribute and share information on tenant rights using social media, posters, and print materials, and support the planning and facilitation of one-on-one and group education sessions. Conduct assessments with tenants to identify their needs and assist in providing information or referrals to appropriate supports and services. Provide general information and referrals to tenants about relevant housing topics, including the Residential Tenancies Act, eviction processes, landlord obligations, discrimination, rental renovation by-laws, and other tenancy-related issues. Respond to tenant inquiries via email, phone, and social media platforms, and assist with maintaining communication channels such as live chats on CICS tenant support website. Assist in preparing multilingual materials and coordinating with internal staff to deliver multilingual information sessions when needed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and activities. Assist in preparing basic statistical summaries and reports under the guidance of the program coordinator or supervisor. Support internal teams with tenant-related information and contribute to collaborative efforts across departments. Attend staff and partnership meetings, training sessions, and outreach events as required. Represent CICS in a professional and welcoming manner during client and community interactions.

Qualifications:



Canadian university degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, legal studies, or a related field Certification or training on legal services, Counselling or other related disciplines an asset; Minimum 2 years of related work experience, preferably in a front-line housing services role or within a non-profit setting focused on housing and tenant support related to evictions; Previous experience in a legal environment or administrative role is advantageous. Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures, and tenant issues in York Region is beneficial. Excellent knowledge of cultural and social backgrounds of immigrants and refugees; including their settlement and integration issues both general and specific; Knowledge of community resources and services, especially in York Region a strong asset; A good understanding of services systems, tenant supports and the Landlord and Tenant Board processes; Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with diverse communities. Established expertise in program organization, service referral, community outreach and establishing new partnerships to promote tenant support services in the community; working with diverse cultures and all age groups; Experienced in resource coordination and case management techniques; ability to take accurate notes, keep records, and produce summaries or reports. Excellent communication skills, oral and written proficiency in English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin) Ability to manage time, multiple tasks, stress and meet deadlines; Ability to use online platforms, such as Zoom and MS Teams and social media to deliver workshops, events and services; Strong attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS Teams, and shared calendars Flexible, willing to travel in GTA, and work in evenings and weekends.

Other Requirements

:

Ability to perform some physical activities (e.g. lifting and loading program materials and office equipment); A negative result in Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory; Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a car to carry out duties is preferred.
