Housing Support Worker (Casual call-in)

Type: Days, evening or overnight 4, 8 & 12 hour shifts including weekends.

Location: Stephenville, NL Salary: Salary range $21.00 - $23.00 hr.

Ne'ata'q Place offers transitional housing for Indigenous women with or without children who have experienced intimate partner violence. The services include housing, mental health counselling and support, life skills development, community liaison, child and youth supports, and Indigenous cultural supports to create a truly fulsome support for those in need.

Job Duties

Work 4, 8 or 12 hour shifts during the day, evening or overnight to ensure a safe, supportive living environment. Model respectful social interactions, reminding residents of the house guidelines and ensuring adherence to policies and routines. Provide aid and support to residents experiencing difficulties and crisis situations. Answering the door and assessing any potential risks. Being alert to conflict or safety issues that may arise. Complete regular security checks of buildings (doors, windows) and monitor the security cameras. Check-in with all residents as scheduled.
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. Relevant training or experience in community services related field, security, customer service and/or lived experience. Knowledge of the dynamics of intimate partner violence/abuse and safety planning. First Aid and WHMIS training is required. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and fulfill the job duties in a calm and compassionate manner.
Knowledge in these areas would be an asset:

Cultural Safety Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Mental Health First Aid 2SLGBTQIA+ Awareness Substance Use/Naloxone administration
