ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Community Operations Manager, this role will work in Community Power to support the delivery of our construction and housing service offerings. These services are often delivered in remote, isolated communities and include projects such as housing condition assessments, construction estimating, project management partnerships, and others. This role will support our Construction and Housing Services Manager to deliver benefits to our clients based on outcomes such as energy efficiency and health and safety improvements in homes and buildings. This is a fully remote (work from home) position that requires semi-regular travel to communities across BC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of construction services content including housing assessment and upgrade reports, maintenance and renovation scope documents, cost estimates, trade contracts, construction progress accounting reports, schedules and change orders.
  • Performing condition assessments in communities across BC and neighbouring provinces.
  • Assessing the general condition of various housing components such as foundations, windows and doors, roofs, heating systems, plumbing systems, insulation, etc.
  • Forming recommendations to address deficiencies within homes and buildings.
  • Generating cost estimates associated with recommended home and building maintenance and repair for the purpose of budgeting and planning.
  • Acting as a liaison between construction contractors and the client and playing the role as an owner\xe2\x80\x99s representative.
  • Managing relationships with our partner communities as it relates to project work.
  • Coordinating subcontractors and partner consultants to meet project requirements as needed.
  • Working with the Business Development team to define new construction and housing service offerings and refine existing offerings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A thorough understanding of residential construction methods and best practices is required for this role.
  • Degree, certificate or diploma in Construction Management, relevant trade, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 2-5 years of direct experience in residential construction or construction management is required.
  • Experience using MS Word and Excel and the ability to learn how to use a variety of software is required.
  • Experience with client management and customer service is an asset.
  • Having Red Seal, Building Inspector or Project Management certification is an asset.
  • Interest in, and knowledge of high performance building systems is an asset.
  • Must have a valid Class 5-passenger vehicle licence.
