The Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) is seeking enthusiastic Indigenous youth, students, or early-career individuals interested in affordable and supportive housing development to join our paid Housing Development Internship Opportunity. This role offers hands-on experience in planning, policy, research, and community-based project development, with a focus on Indigenous housing initiatives.
What the Opportunity Offers Interns working with the Housing Development team at VAFCS can expect to:
Gain valuable experience in affordable and supportive housing project planning and delivery
Work directly with the Housing Development Manager on research, proposal writing, planning, and reporting
Learn about municipal planning processes, Indigenous housing policy, and funding applications
Develop skills in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and government relations
Be mentored by professionals working in Indigenous-led housing development
Build a foundation for future work in community development, housing, or public service

Living in Metro Vancouver during the internship term
Recent high school graduates, current post-secondary students, or those transitioning into a new career
Passionate about Indigenous community development, housing, and social justice
Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants, especially those with lived experience relevant to the work of VAFCS
