As the Housing Community Support and Outreach Worker, you will walk alongside Indigenous individuals and families to strengthen relationships, increase awareness of housing supports, and bridge people to the resources they need. This role is grounded in trust, care, and presence -- ensuring that community members feel seen, heard, and supported on their housing journeys.
Through outreach, relationship-building, and collaboration, you'll help create stronger pathways to housing access and contribute to a compassionate, community-centered approach within the Housing Team.

What You'll Do
Build Trusting Relationships
Approach all work with a relationship-first mindset -- listening, showing up, and walking alongside community members with dignity and respect.
Outreach and Engagement
Connect with Indigenous individuals and families to share information about housing supports and related services.
Engage in outreach activities that are inclusive, welcoming, and responsive to diverse needs.
Increase Awareness
Promote understanding of the Housing Team's work and the supports available through First Light and partner organizations.
Share up-to-date information on housing-related resources and community programs.
Strengthen Access
Help reduce barriers by sharing clear, accessible information about resources and programs.
Support community members by accompanying them to appointments or events as needed.
Support Collective Efforts
Collaborate with the Housing Team and other First Light staff to deliver community events, projects, and cultural gatherings that promote housing access and well-being.
Provide flexible assistance for time-limited or one-off tasks that strengthen service delivery.

To be eligible for this role, you must have:
Deep respect for and understanding of
Indigenous cultures, traditions, and experiences in urban settings

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively in community settings.
Familiarity with local community resources and housing supports.
Ability to work independently while also contributing as a supportive team member.
Organizational skills and adaptability to respond to varied needs.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
What could support success in this role:

Pay: $55,000.00-$57,000.00 per year
